Everton have confirmed a summer signing as a deal has been completed to sign Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam.

Sean Dyche’s Everton are in a tough financial spot this summer and will seemingly have to get creative if they want to make key additions to their first team.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin could well be on his way out of Goodison Park with HITC understanding that Newcastle United are interested in the Englishman.

Jarrad Branthwaite could also be on his way to Manchester United, which would certainly help with cashflow and allow the Toffees to spend money in the summer transfer market.

Everton confirm Iroegbunam signing

Despite the potential financial struggles for the Toffees, with money needed to be made by the end of June to comply with the PSR rules, Everton have confirmed a signing.

Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam completed a move to the Toffees over the weekend with HITC reporting that the fee is understood to be in the region of £10 million.

The English midfielder was keen to move on from Villa Park with Unai Emery understood to have informed Iroegbunam that his game time for the Midlands club next season would be limited.

Everton view the 20-year-old midfielder as having high potential as they look to freshen up their engine room with Abdoulaye Doucoure and Idrissa Gana Gueye approaching the twilight of their careers.

Speaking to the club’s official channels, it is clear that the Englishman cannot wait to get his Everton career started.

“I’m very pleased. Everton is an amazing club, a big club and I’m just really happy to join and I can’t wait to get started,” Iroegbunam said. “It was a move that I didn’t want to pass by. I wanted to take the opportunity.

“When I spoke to Kevin [Thelwell], he told me more about the club – its history, the future and where they see me playing. It made me feel very excited because there are big things coming, especially with the new stadium.

“When I’ve been to Goodison as an opposition player, I’ve seen how the Everton fans are. You can tell straight away what the atmosphere is like – they are always backing the team. I’m going to work hard for them.

“I just can’t wait to get started. I’m going to give everything and I can’t wait to show what I can bring to this club.”
