Paul Merson has spoken about how Diego Costa was a ‘handful’ for Wolves as Chelsea fell to yet another defeat in the Premier League on Saturday.
Whilst Chelsea remained toothless in the final third, Merson shared that Diego Costa was causing issues at the other end and how he was a ‘menace’ to Frank Lampard’s side during his hour on the pitch.
Oh, what Chelsea fans would do to have a player of his ilk in his prime, or even now, starting up front because things are beyond dreadful.

From 29 games, the big-spending London club have scored just 29 goals. Erling Haaland has 30 to his name alone – Pep Guardiola has now suggested that he is on Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s level, as reported by BBC Sport.
Whether it’s Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter or Frank Lampard, the two-two European champions are in a mess.
And, as Wolves boosted their relegation hopes, Paul Merson delivered his verdict on the performance of Costa against his former club, as he told Sky Sports News (08/04/23 at 5:25 pm).
“Always a handful,” said Merson. “Costa had a good effort that Kepa saved. I thought that was a good save.
“He works his socks off. He holds the ball up and he is a menace. I thought he did well. He came off with about 70 minutes with 20 to go, but I thought he was a handful.”

BOTTOM HALF FINISH
It’s been a very long time since Chelsea finished in the bottom half and, as things stand, that’s exactly what’s going to happen when the final ball is kicked this season.
Other than Champions League football, the West London club don’t have anything to play for.
If they get booted out by Real Madrid, and at this rate, they’ll get smoked, then things will go from woeful to pure disaster, so, after Graham Potter’s exit is it going to be Mr Lampard who waves his magic wand, instead?!
