Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has given an update on Ousmane Dembele’s future at Barcelona, naming Liverpool as one of the clubs that are hot on his tail.
The Reds have been linked with a move for Dembele in the past, but nothing has come to fruition on that front in previous windows.
However, with the Frenchman moving into the final year of his contract, the Reds may have an opportunity to sign him, and Romano says that they’re still looking at him, and they’re always interested.
“They can’t lose this kind of player for free, they spent over €100m to sign him from Borussia Dortmund years ago. So they are going to negotiate with Dembele, they want to keep Dembele.
“They know that important clubs from the Premier League are looking at him. I’ll mention Juventus in Italy, I’ll mention Liverpool and Manchester United who were looking at him last summer and they’re always interested in this player, but it’s up to Barcelona, they will decide and they will negotiate with Dembele, because tthey want to keep Ousmane Dembele.”

This is certainly an interesting update.
It seems as though Barcelona want to keep Dembele, but with the uncertainty around the presidency and the ongoing financial problems at Camp Nou, we have to assume that it won’t just be a straightforward negotiation on that front.
Liverpool will clearly face stiff competition if they want to sign the £135.5m man, with Juventus and Manchester United reportedly also keen, but with the Reds’ attack seemingly needing a bit of a revamp, this is a move that they may be wise to make.
