What a few days it’s been for Liverpool.
The Reds went from having only signed left-back Kostas Tsimikas this summer, to adding Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota to their ranks for the defence of their Premier League titles.
Thiago had been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool for months and, like waiting for a bus, fans of the Anfield club have seen two come along at once.
But there’s still over two weeks left in the window and another player linked with a move to Merseyside is Ousmane Dembele.
According to Sport in Spain, Jurgen Klopp wants to sign the Barcelona winger on a season-long loan from Camp Nou.
It remains to be seen if Liverpool remain in the market for further attacking players after signing Jota, though it could be argued that with Rhian Brewster and Divock Origi potentially leaving, the former Wolves star is coming in as a back-up for striker Roberto Firmino.
Nonetheless, supporters would surely love a livewire like Dembele at Anfield – and so might Thiago, going by what he said last August.
The French star was linked with a move to Bayern Munich last year while Thiago was in Germany, and the Spain international said this to Bild: “As a football player and one who played against him I can saye his a very good footballer. I would like to play with all the great players who would love to come to Bayern.”
This isn’t the first time Liverpool have been linked with the former Borussia Dortmund attacker.
Two years ago, when asked about bringing Dembele to Anfield, Klopp said to The Daily Mail: “Is he on the market? Now I’m interested.”
Time will tell whether there’s any substance to this latest rumour.
