Throughout NBA history, we’ve seen plenty of players with remarkable ball-handling skills.

But, as with any skill, there are a few who really stand out from the rest.

Allen Iverson is regularly mentioned in conversations about elite ball-handlers. But who does the former 76ers star believe is the best ever?

Allen Iverson picked Kyrie Irving as the GOAT ball-handler over Stephen Curry

In today’s game, there are two names that constantly come up in the conversation: Kyrie Irving and Stephen Curry. Both are exceptional with the ball in their hands, showing off an array of quick moves.

But when it comes to choosing one as the best, Iverson didn’t hesitate to pick Irving. He explained his choice on The Big Podcast back in 2024.

“Hell yeah, he’s the best. He is the best. Steph’s handles are crazy and Kyrie’s jumper is wet too,” Iverson said. “But Steph, his jumper gets him over a lot, because he can cross half-court and let it go.”

He went on to say: “Kyrie will have you beat and then bring it back, and play with it. Like, he toys with people.”

Iverson didn’t overlook Curry’s skill with the ball but felt that his shooting ability made more of a difference than his handle. With Irving, though, it was all about how he uses his dribbling to take control of a game.

Shaquille O’Neal says Jason Williams had better handles than Kyrie Irving

After listening to Iverson’s view, Shaquille O’Neal jumped in with his own opinion on the subject.

Shaq didn’t agree with Iverson, instead picking Jason Williams – also known as ‘White Chocolate’ – as his choice for the best ball-handler of all time.

“So, where does my boy fall into that? White Chocolate? That’s who I’d say had the best handles ever,” Shaq said during the podcast.

While Iverson stuck by his own list, he still acknowledged that Williams had impressive handles during his playing days.
