Dion Dublin has claimed that Leeds United were still ‘all over the place’ despite their 2-1 win over Wolves on Saturday in the Premier League.

The former striker thinks Jesse Marsch’s side are still ‘frantic’ in their play, but he feels what has changed is the fact that they are ‘squeezing’ and ‘closing down in the right places now’.

Leeds’ heads could have easily dropped when Daniel Podence opened the scoring early on, but the home team actually grew in confidence when that goal went in at the wrong end.

Rodrigo equalised less than 20 minutes after his side went behind, with Ryan Ait-Nouri then converting into his own net in the second half to seal the points for the Yorkshire outfit.

All the noise about how some might be worried about Marsch and his players heading into the new Premier League season can be put on mute, for now, because they are doing their talking on the pitch.

It’s only one game, but it’s a positive step forward, as Dublin praised the Leeds boss for throwing in the summer signings straight away, as he told Final Score.

“He’s gone for players that he knows and players that he can trust,” said Dublin. “He’s had a taster of this league and now knows what is expected of his players.

“They are still frantic. They are still all over the place. But they seem to be squeezing and closing the ball down in the right places now, in the final third of the opponent.”

DO LEEDS HAVE ENOUGH GOALS?

With Raphinha out of the door, Leeds have lost a massive goal threat that played a huge part in them securing their Premier League safety last season.

Now, Patrick Bamford missed large parts of the 2021/22 campaign because of injury, and whilst he is back and starting, they can’t just rely upon him for goals.

Surely those in the Elland Road boardroom will learn from what happened to them last season and how injury after injury nearly played a part in their relegation.

There is talk that Leeds will make a second bid for PSG forward, Arnaud Kalimuendo, who is also on West Ham United’s transfer radar.

It seems as though Kalimuendo will be one of a number of faces to arrive before the window slams shut on September 1 because they are also closing in on experienced goalkeeper, Joel Robles.
