The Marquez brothers took MotoGP by storm in 2025 as they finished a resounding first and second in the championship.
Ducati couldn’t have been much more pleased with the performances they delivered en route to winning all titles.
There wasn’t much competition, in honesty. The likes of Pedro Acosta and Marco Bezzecchi only came good at the end of the campaign.
Marc Marquez sealed a seventh crown well in advance of the final race, while Alex Marquez also guaranteed the runner-up spot in advance of the Valencia finale.
Marquez reminds Luigi Dall’Igna of a ‘rookie’ with his performances, and continues to show an intense desire to win.
Alex Marquez isn’t ‘jealous’ of Marc Marquez despite MotoGP title win
Marquez felt overlooked before joining Gresini, where he has become a valuable and trusted member of their team.
This year was a career year for him, winning his first race and racking up plenty of podiums before the end of the season.
Despite missing multiple races, he still wasn’t able to beat Marc. At one stage, he had a fair shot at winning the title, but his performances dropped away a bit in the summer.
Now, the Spaniard has spoken about how he isn’t ‘jealous’ of his brother, despite all the success he enjoyed in 2025.
“In the end, it’s already Marc Marquez that involves people reporting [on] you,” he told Cosimo Curatola. “They report [on] you and it’s there above you, isn’t it? Seeing that you’re doing well, that you’re doing badly, right?
“And you get criticism, you get good things. So that’s something that I’m not jealous of, that I’m very happy to be Alex Marquez and not have all those people: ‘No, no, now he’s gone there, now he’s said this and not that’. That’s true, that I’m not jealous.”
Can Alex Marquez win his first MotoGP title in 2026?
Now that he has the experience of running at the front, the younger Marquez is more prepared than he ever has been to compete for a title.
In fact, Alex will be on a factory-supported Ducati next year, and has no real excuse if he can’t compete against the very best.
He will have the same machinery as his brother, while Marc will be in the process of getting back to 100% fitness following a shoulder injury.
If anyone is best-placed to challenge following a recent wing directive, that should hurt Aprilia, it’s probably Alex.
