Houston Dynamo forward speaks of dream European move

Houston Dynamo’s Alberth Elis has reiterated his dream of a making a European move at the end of the season. After being linked to Celtic, the forward will hope to use the ‘MLS Is Back Tournament‘ as an opportunity to impress.

The Daily Record have quoted Elis as saying, “I think I will make the decision that I will leave Houston and give Europe a go. There are a few teams we are already talking to in Europe.”

The Honduras international joined Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo in 2017. Elis’ form soon caught the attention of European clubs, including Scottish giants Celtic and England’s West Bromwich Albion.

An Alberth Elis European move has been discussed before. According to Football Insider, the Baggies made made a multi-million dollar offer in 2019.

The goal-getter continued to impress and as a result Celtic joined West Brom in also making an offer for the man known as ‘La Panterita’ (The Little Panther’).

Viewed as a potentially excellent signing for the Glasgow club, Elis’ compatriot and former Hoops defender Emilio Izaguirre confirmed that the club had been looking at the striker (Scottish Sun).

‘I hope that many good offers come’

Now, a year later, Elis seems destined to depart MLS in search of a European adventure.

Elis recently spoke with Honduras media outlet Diez about the upcoming ‘MLS Is Back Tournament’ – making his intentions perfectly clear.

The 24-year-old explained how the tournament may be his last games in MLS.

Elis addressed Celtic’s interest by telling Diez, ‘I know that if I have a very good tournament, there are teams that will be watching… this is very beneficial for me… I hope that very good offers come.’

Whether Elis realizes his dream of playing in Europe remains to be seen. In the meantime, the Honduras international will be turning his attention to the upcoming Orlando tournament.
