Albert Sambi Lokonga has passed his medical ahead of his move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, according to La Derniere Heure.

What’s the story?

La Derniere Heure are reporting that Lokonga is on the verge of moving to Arsenal from Anderlecht.

The 21-year-old underwent a medical in the Netherlands on Friday.

The midfielder did his medical in the Netherlands because of quarantine protocols in England.

It has been further reported that an official announcement of the transfer could be made in the coming hours.

Arsenal will pay €17.5 million (£14.95m) upfront for Lokonga.

Het Laatste Nieuws have also reported that the 21-year-old has passed his medical.

Exciting for Arsenal fans

It seems that Arsenal could make the announcement of Lokonga imminently.

The Gunners have already signed a player today.

Arsenal announced the arrival of Nuno Tavares from Benfica today.

Tavares is a left-back who will be a back-up to Kieran Tierney at the Gunners.

Lokonga is a defensive midfielder but can also operate in a box-to-box role.

The Anderlecht no.48 scored three goals and gave two assists in 33 Jupiler Pro League games last season.

The youngster also played four times in the Belgian Cup.

It must be very encouraging and exciting for Arsenal fans that the club are doing transfer business so early in the window.
