A claim has emerged that Tottenham Hotspur interim manager Ryan Mason idolises Mauricio Pochettino.
Journalist David Ornstein revealed last Friday that if the 31-year-old manages to finish the season on a high, he could be in line to manage Spurs on a permanent basis.
As Tottenham Hotspur are perhaps mulling over whether they should hand the reins to current interim manager Ryan Mason, it has been claimed that he looks up to Mauricio Pochettino.
Tottenham caretaker manager Ryan Mason worships Mauricio Pochettino
The Englishman’s second stint in N17 has got off to a mixed start, as his side came back from two goals down in both games against Manchester United and Liverpool, drawing the first and losing the second.
Reputed journalist Alasdair Gold has now said that Ryan Mason, who could perhaps be a shock appointment as Tottenham manager looks up to Mauricio Pochettino.

“If you look at it from another point of view, Spurs fans wanted Pochettino. Spurs, for some reason didn’t want Pochettino back. Ryan Mason is a Pochettino disciple, if you want to look for someone who absolutely idolised Poch and wanted to take on a lot of the philosophy and the way he played, it’s Ryan Mason.”
“He’s well-respected and everyone is always saying how good his training sessions are and how he sees the game”, he said on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast.
HITC View: Daniel Levy should steer cleer of Ryan Mason appointment
While a fair point has been made about Tottenham potentially earmarking Ryan Mason as their next manager due to how closely he has worked with Mauricio Pochettino, that would simply be an uncalculated gamble.
The English coach could perhaps become a top tactician over time but with the mess Spurs find themselves in, they must go out and bring in a more experienced manager.
With names like Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique and Arne Slot linked with the job in N17, Daniel Levy has no reason to turn to Ryan Mason.
