Alan Stubbs has told TalkSPORT (Tuesday, 10.30AM) that he would rather Everton hire Marcelo Bielsa than see his old side bring in Sean Dyche – claiming that given Everton have a decisive figure at board level, why not as a manager?

Criticism continues to pour in for owner Farhad Moshiri and Everton’s board for their handling of the club over the past few years. Frank Lampard has now been sacked, with the club sitting in the drop zone after a 2-0 loss to West Ham.

There is plenty of time for Everton to save themselves. We are of course, only halfway into a Premier League season. But, time is ticking for Everton. The Toffees now have a break until February 4 without a game, but it is a crucial period.

They need a new manager and perhaps, a couple of signings before the end of the window. After a raft of managers that have failed to deliver success at Everton, the next appointment is crucial. Plenty have been linked with the Toffees.

Dyche has been out of work since his Burnley sacking this time last year. Similarly, Bielsa at Leeds. The Independent say Everton have opened talks for Bielsa. Everton icon Stubbs says he would rather the Argentine, over Dyche to come in.

“Listen, we just need someone in. I would have Bielsa over Dyche. I think right now, having another decisive character is not going to be the end of the world – given the owner is one,” Stubbs told TalkSPORT’s White & Jordan Show (24/01).

The issue regarding Bielsa is that he would need his entire backroom staff to come in. He is renowned for needing a translator to work – although, there are murmurs he is more than capable of speaking English. Bielsa needs time.

He would change tactics completely. Go to a man-to-man system and go all-out attack. It might be what Everton need. Dyche, meanwhile, is a firefighter. He would defend and look to nab the odd goal on the counter. Bielsa is exciting.

More so than Dyche. Gary Neville has said that Bielsa would excite fans and bring the club back together again. But luring Bielsa to the club is a tricky procedure – just ask Leeds. Would he provide success in a limited amount of time?
