Alan Shearer has said on BBC Sport that he feels sorry for Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce.
The Newcastle legend has said that Magpies’ boss Bruce is fantastic and is very honest.
Shearer has said that he wanted it to work so much for Bruce, but the BBC Sport pundit thinks that the new Newcastle owners will sack the Englishman soon.
Shearer said on BBC Sport: “I feel sorry for Steve and his family. He is a fantastic guy, he’s very open and honest. I know how much he wanted it to work.
“I think some of the things he has had to listen to in his two and a bit years in charge have been unfair in the circumstances, but I knew that would happen and that is why I didn’t want him to take the job. He’s had to take everything on at that football club, you never heard from the owner.”

Steve Bruce’s days at Newcastle are numbered
Bruce was kept in charge for Newcastle’s Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur today.
It was the first game for the Magpies under new owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).
In our view, Bruce will not be kept in the job for long.
There is speculation that PIF did not have enough time to find a replacement.

That is why Bruce is still the manager of Newcastle.
After all, the takeover was finalised just a few days ago.
Bruce – who earns £57,000 per week as salary, according to The Express – does not always play attacking football at Newcastle.
We can understand why Newcastle fans are frustrated.
However, you could argue that Bruce did the job he was asked to by Mike Ashley – keep Newcastle in the Premier League.
PIF will want to bring in a new manager in to move the club forward and challenge for major trophies in the future.
