Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer has named the Chelsea player who was, without a doubt, the clubs best player last season.
It was a difficult season for Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino with the club struggling hugely in the first half of the Premier League season, but they did recover towards the end of the campaign to finish sixth place.
With five wins in a row to finish off the season, the club looked to be clicking but Chelsea made the decision to part ways with Pochettino.
HITC understands that Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca is set to be the new man in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Shearer names clubs best player
It was a tough season for fans of the Blues but one player in particular stood out above the rest and he already looks set to be a key component of the team going forward.
Alan Shearer, speaking on the Rest Is Football podcast, has named the player who has excelled for the Blues, and his answer may not surprise many.
“Cole Palmer was out of this world,” Shearer began, “he dragged them through all season. Been, without doubt, their best player.”
The English midfielder moved to Chelsea from Manchester City last summer and he has been one of, if not the, best players in the division.
There were some eyebrows raised when City decided to allow Cole Palmer to leave the club for a rival and it seems they were right, he has been magnificent.
Palmer key for Maresca
With Maresca set to join the club from Leicester after the West London club settled on the Argentine, it is vital that they can get the best out of Palmer, who has been called up for England’s European Championship squad in the summer.
The attacking midfielder will be the player who will be relied upon to drag the club into this new era under Maresca, who was once a coach under Pep Guardiola under City.
If Maresca gets the best out of Palmer, and Chelsea make the key additions in areas that need strengthening this summer, they could be a force to be reckoned with next season.
