Alan Shearer praised Tottenham Hotspur’s ‘exceptional’ duo Harry Kane and Son-Heung min after their 2-0 win over Everton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Antonio Conte’s side had to work pretty hard for their three points, with Kane opening the scoring from the penalty spot in the second half after he was fouled by Jordan Pickford.

The Everton goalkeeper proceeded to spill a pretty tame shot from inside the box, which was pounced on by the pro-active Kane, and as he tried to knock the ball past his England teammate, he was fouled, won the penalty and then dispatched it in typical fashion.

Everton’s best openings came in the first half, on the counter, and in truth, they should have scored during that first period.

But that ruthless nature just wasn’t just there from Frank Lampard’s side, and after Kane’s spot-kick, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was scoring his third of the season with a well-controlled and composed finish.

Nonetheless, when talking about Tottenham winning again under Antonio Conte, there were two players who Shearer was sure to mention, as he told NBC Sports (15/10/22 at 7:25 pm).

“As long as they keep doing that, then they will keep winning games because they have got the players to do that,” said Shearer.

“They have the players who can sit deep, work hard and then hit you on the break with that pace. With Kane and Son, they have two exceptional players.”

TOTTENHAM MARCHING ON…

That’s all Tottenham can do as they continue their winning run on home soil and continue to breathe down the necks of the Premier League’s top two.

Spurs are level on points with second-placed Manchester City, who travel to Merseyside to take on under-performing Liverpool in the late kick-off on Sunday.

Meanwhile, those across London are in Yorkshire and they will be hoping to keep top spot by beating a Leeds United team that last won a game in August – a 3-0 win over Chelsea.

Either way, with midweek Premier League games now coming up, this table could turn on its head during the next few weeks.
