Alan Shearer has stated what Arsenal need this summer to finally win their first Premier League title since 2004.
After a slow start under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have really progressed as a club and have been in the past two title races, but have failed to get over the line on both occasions with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City emerging with the trophy.
With such a young squad however, the Gunners will only improve year on year. This was shown last season with the addition of Declan Rice making Arsenal a much more potent threat and more physical in the middle of the park.
The aim for next season is a simple one, win the Premier League title.

Shearer on Arsenal
A 2-0 defeat to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa effectively dealt the killer blow to the Gunners’ title challenge with City having a game in hand and cutting the gap.
Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer has given his verdict on how the club will do next season but he has also laid out what the Gunners need to win their first title since 2004.
“I think big things are to come for Arsenal,” Shearer said on the Rest Is Football Podcast. “If they can get two top quality players to add to what they have already got, I think they could do it (win the title) next season.”
This summer will be a vital one for the Gunners if they are to compete for the title once again. HITC understands that the club are looking for a new midfielder as well as a centre-forward.
Arsenal’s targets
HITC have reported that the Gunners are keen on Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi this summer with the 26-year-old having a £51 million release clause inserted into his contract.
However, the deal has stalled in recent weeks with the midfielder not accepting Arsenal’s offer. There is a belief that the midfielder would prefer a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona.
As for striker targets, there is interest in Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez, according to CBS Sports, but the Italian giants are set to open talks over a new contract according to the club’s CEO Giuseppe Marrotta.
