David Alaba wants to convince Serge Gnabry to join Real Madrid, as talks between Bayern Munich and the reported Liverpool transfer target over a new contract continue to stutter.
That’s according to Bild, who report the Austrian is doing everything he can to lure Gnabry to Spain this summer. The pair built a close bond during their time together in Bavaria and Alaba hopes the friendship will play a factor if the German star now reconsiders his future.
Gnabry will enter the final year of his FCB contract at the end of the current campaign, and talks over fresh terms have so far proven unsatisfactory. Alaba knows all too well that the Bundesliga giants are firm negotiators, having left in a free transfer after talks broke down.

Bayern Munich cut off negotiations with Alaba in 2020 after he rejected an €11m-a-season (£180k-a/w) offer, per ESPN. Bonuses could have added a further €5m (£4.25m) to his pay. Yet the defender left Germany and penned an €11m-a/s after tax deal with the Galacticos.
Alaba also landed a €20m (£17m) bonus on signing his Real Madrid contract last year, and now hopes to convince Gnabry to join him at the Santiago Bernabeu – a possible blow for Liverpool in their rumoured pursuit of the Bayern Munich forward’s transfer this summer.

Liverpool are paying close attention to Gnabry’s negotiations with Bayern Munich over his new contract in view of a potential transfer, per Sky Germany. As are Manchester United, and Sky Germany also note Gnabry knows Barcelona and Real Madrid are keen on his skill.

Talks between the winger and FCB over a new deal are constantly hitting road blocks, too. While citing Los Blancos and the Blaugrana’s interest, Sky Germany add the Allianz Arena hierarchy have not made Gnabry an offer anywhere close to the salary he expects to earn.
Also, Kicker noted this week that Gnabry – who Rio Ferdinand calls ‘world-class’ – is now growing frustrated at the Bavarian outfit prioritising the contracts of other stars before his. So, a summer split could become likely as Bayern will be loath to let him also walk for free.
