Genoa could make a decision about Radu Dragusin’s future today with Tottenham Hotspur hoping to finally seal a deal to bring the £30 million-rated centre-half to the Premier League.

While the month is still young, the Radu Dragusin saga has rumbled on for younger than anyone at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium would have liked.

HITC reported that Spurs were hoping to finally agree a deal before the end of last week. Those hopes went up in smoke, of course, amid claims that Bayern Munich have thrown their hat into the ring.

HITC have now been informed that Ange Postecoglou’s side could offer Djed Spence as a sweetener in a potential £30 million transfer.

Spence, who had his loan spell at Leeds United cut short recently, would move to Italy on loan until the end of the season, with Dragusin heading permanently in the other direction.

Tottenham should, at least, receive a firm answer from Genoa sooner rather than later.

Florin Manea, the agent who confirmed Tottenham’s interest back in December, now tells GSP that Il Grifone had scheduled talks over Dragusin’s future before the close of play on Tuesday.

“I am now at Genoa, at the club. They will probably decide today if and where they are going. I’m sorry I can’t talk much. There are very big clubs involved,” explains Manea, who also admitted interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United.

“He might stay here for a while. We will discuss. I’m at the club. In 30 minutes, I will enter the discussions. We will probably know more in the afternoon. Radu is not affected by the discussions. He laughs, he’s calm.

“He’s got great faith in me and has nothing to stress about. He deserves everything that happens to him. I have full confidence in him.

“Are Genoa willing to give him? Genoa would not have wanted to give him away but, for the right amount, anyone is for sale.”

Spurs offer Djed Spence to Genoa

21-year-old Dragusin, one of the most promising young centre-halves in Europe, was expected to become Tottenham’s first signing of the January window. The powerhouse Romanian looks set to be pipped to the post, however, by the London-bound RB Leipzig benchwarmer Timo Werner.

“We will see what will be in the future,” Manea adds. Radu evaluates what is best for him in his career. No one can guarantee that he plays. It depends on him. And he understands everything very well.

“The choice will be made according to the career path he wants. I know how he has prepared. He’s sensational! If you play in Italy, you can play anywhere in the world.”
