George Gardi, the agent of Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has said that Arsenal blocked him from joining PSG in 2020.

The Gabonese international, who is currently struggling to get on the pitch under Graham Potter could have signed for the Parisians before he joined Barcelona eventually.

But as per the man’s agent, Arsenal stood in the way of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang making a switch to PSG two years after.

Agent says Arsenal stopped Aubemeyang from PSG transfer

Gunners fans have a complicated relationship with Aubameyang, once branded as ‘outstanding’ by Mikel Arteta, as per Football.London.

While some consider the ageing goalscorer as a hero for being the main man when the side were at their absolute worst, many strongly believe that he betrayed them by joining arch-rivals Chelsea.

The animosity amongst the fanbase is likelier to grow after discovering that the agent that represents Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang said that if not for Arsenal, he would have signed for PSG three years ago.

“At international level, I would have liked to bring Hazard from Chelsea to Juventus in 2019 and Aubameyang from Arsenal to PSG in 2020”, he said, as relayed by Calciomercato.

“Despite some hesitation, he decided for Real [Madrid], while for Aubameyang I was already on the plane to London when Arsenal blocked the deal.”

Understandable from Aubameyang

The former Borussia Dortmund frontman had bagged 22 goals in the Premier League in the 2019/2020 Premier League season in a campaign where the Gunners finished in 8th place.

Understandably, Aubameyang and his agent had their sights set on joining one of Europe’s most elite teams in PSG and while Arsenal also perhaps made the right call by interrupting his transfer, both sides of the story are completely fair.

At the end of the day, the Emirates faithful will realise that there is no reason to cry over spilled milk as their side is flying and are set to in years to come as well.
