Spartak Moscow have ‘made an offer to Tottenham Hotspur’ for Davinson Sanchez with the £42 million centre-half facing an uncertain future at the Premier League outfit.

With Clement Lenglet’s return to Barcelona opening the door for Tottenham to bring in a new left-sided centre-half – Edmond Tapsoba, Hiroki Ito and Micky van de Ven seemingly the three leading candidates – North London could also soon be home to another new defender capable of slotting in on the right of Ange Postecoglou’s presumably new-look backline.

Tottenham, FootMercato say, are planning talks with Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo. Stuttgart’s Japan international Ko Itakura is also a target; Postecoglou dipping into a market he knows well.

The arrival of either Tosin or Itakura, meanwhile, would also probably spell the end of Davinson Sanchez’s largely underwhelming Tottenham career. Sanchez has just one year left on his contract, and Spurs are unlikely to stand in his way after another error-prone campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur could sell Davinson Sanchez to Russia

Last week, one of Sanchez’s representatives admitted that the Colombian colossus was not averse to the idea of kick-starting his career in Russia; Spartak Moscow expressing an interest.

On Sunday, meanwhile, another of Sanchez’s camp provided an update on the negotiations. Spartak are yet to speak to the 27-year-old directly, but they have opened talks with his current employers.

“Yes, Spartak made an offer to Tottenham for Sanchez,” Fernando Villarreal tells Sport Express.

Nothing is imminent as thing stand, however.

“Sanchez is not afraid to come to Russia, but it is too early to talk about it. Now, there are no specifics,” he adds, via RB Sport

“Spartak did not come to us. The clubs communicate with each other.”

Tottenham paid a club-record £42 million to sign Sanchez from Ajax back in 2017. In his six years in the English capital, however, Sanchez’s development has plateaued, the sort of naïve mistakes that go hand-in-hand with inexperience far harder to justify at the age of 27.
