Michael Beale is reportedly close to swapping QPR for Wolves despite only a handful of games in charge at the Championship side following his exit from Aston Villa in the summer – and Gabby Agbonlahor is “not comfortable”.
Beale, 42, joined QPR in the summer. It was his first job as a manager, having worked under other managers at his previous club. Going from Liverpool’s youth sides as manager, to being Sao Paulo assistant manager.
Then, he returned to these shores to work under Steven Gerrard at Rangers – lasting just over three years. But with Gerrard moving to Villa, Beale followed for the remainder of the 2021-22 season. Now, he is at QPR.
Indeed, in his first 15 games, he has impressed as manager of the London side. Managing 15 games, he has guided QPR to seven wins and four draws, with the R’s sitting in fourth place in the Championship table. Clubs are watching.
Beale recently spoke out over interest in his services from Wolves and Rangers – stating he is focusing on QPR. But The Athletic suggest that he could become the new Wolves gaffer. Agbonlahor reacted on Twitter to the news.
Agbonlahor not comfortable: Beale close to swapping QPR for Wolves
In regards of Beale and QPR, it is incredibly quick. Only 15 games into his tenure at Loftus Road, it is very quick – albeit, very impressive. He has pushed QPR into promotion contention, looking good for a top-six finish at this early stage.
So, for Wolves to place their trust into a manager that only has Premier League experience from his time as assistant at Villa is interesting – and a risk. Of course, the rivalry between Wolves and Villa has prompted Agbonlahor’s reaction.
But for Beale, to reject a move to a club with the players and the quality of Wolves is a very tempting one. It would be a lack of ambition, perhaps, if he was not to chance his arm at Molineux and back himself.
