One of the players who did well for Leeds United in their win against Tottenham Hotspur today was Illan Meslier.
Meslier is one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe, and he showed his class with two very good saves against Tottenham.
Leeds won the Premier League game 3-1 at Elland Road this afternoon, blowing Tottenham’s chances of finishing in the top four.
Tottenham interim-manager Ryan Mason was impressed by Meslier, praising the 21-year-old for the save to deny Serge Aurier.
It was a brilliant save from Meslier, and one that Leeds fans are accustomed to. The youngster also denied Erik Lamela in the final 15 minutes.
Spurs saw first hand how good the 21-year-old is, and club chairman Daniel Levy would be wise to make a bid for him in the summer transfer window.
Described by Leeds striker Patrick Bamford as “actually unreal” on the Official Leeds United Podcast in March, as covered by HITC Sport, Meslier is very good at stopping shots, is calm and composed on the ball, can play out from the back, and is confident while claiming crosses.
The fact that the 21-year-old is keeping former Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla out of the team speaks volume.

Hugo Lloris is the first-choice goalkeeper and remains a very good player, but the Frenchman is 34 years of age.
Spurs have to sign a young(er) goalkeeper who can succeed Lloris in the long run, and his French compatriot would be a very good candidate.
It is not easy to be a goalkeeper for a massive and demanding club such as Leeds, but Meslier is doing just fine and does not seem to be fazed by it.
Leeds are unlikely to be open to selling Meslier, but money talks, and Spurs should at least make a bid.
