Tottenham fans will be pleased with the signing of Pedro Porro, but the fact that it is an initial loan with an obligation to buy begs the question, do Spurs have another big signing up their sleeve?
Of course, signing Porro on an initial loan means that Spurs now aren’t parting ways with a huge sum of cash on deadline day for this deal, and that means they could still have some space to spend.
Before the window opened it was reported that there was £50 million still in the club’s coffers from the summer capital injection from ENIC, so it’s clear that Tottenham have some cash to spend, and with the transfer deadline fast approaching, they may have something else up their sleeve.
The loan deal for Porro, similar to the recent moves for Cristian Romero and Dejan Kulusevski, is a smart way of doing business.

It helps with Financial Fair Play restrictions and potentially frees up more cash for further signings. This could mean that Tottenham may have another signing lined up before the deadline, which would come as a huge boost for a club that is struggling for form as of late.
Tottenham have been linked with two talented young players, Nicolo Zaniolo and Piero Hincapie, and either of them would be a welcome addition to the squad. Zaniolo is a creative midfielder who has made a name for himself at Roma, while Hincapie is a promising centre-back who has been shining over in Germany.
Of course, there’s always the possibility that Tottenham may opt to keep their cash for the summer transfer window, but there’s no time like the present, and Spurs need reinforcements.
Alasdair Gold even stated that Porro may not be Spurs’ final signing of the window earlier this week, and that was before this move became a loan deal.
While the signing of Porro is a great move for Tottenham, you can’t help but feel that the club still have some work to do in the transfer market. With money available, fans will be hoping that the club can make the most of this opportunity and bring in some more players before the deadline.
Whether that means Zaniolo, Hincapie, or someone else, remains to be seen, but it’s fair to assume that Spurs may not be finished in the market just yet.
