Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has been discussing Tottenham Hotspur’s financial situation ahead of the January transfer window.

Antonio Conte wants to be backed in January, and, of course, in order to bring in new players, the north London club will have to spend some cash.

Spurs were treated to a £150m capital injection in the summer, and according to Gold, there is still £50m of that cash left in the kitty.

Spurs have money leftover

Gold shared what he knows about the financial situation at Spurs.

“The stadium is meant to be a gamechanger. It is a cash-generating machine. That is churning pound notes out of it. That needs to start to kick in now and using that money,” Gold said.

“There is still this £50m, the remainder of the £150m that ENIC made available in capital and judging on the previous thing, that can be drawn out until the end of the year. I need to clarify if that’s before the end of the year or the financial year, but the fact it didn’t say the financial year makes me wonder if there is just a few days left for that to be drawn out.”

Spend it in January

Whether or not this money needs to be drawn out before the end of 2022 or before the end of the financial year in April, this cash is there to be spent in January.

£50m is more than enough for Spurs to refurbish their squad with two or three quality players. They landed Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski for a similar combined fee last summer and two quality additions in that mould would stand them in good stead heading into the new year.

What Spurs end up doing in January remains to be seen, but it certainly seems as though there is money there to spend.
