Speculation is brewing about Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leaving Liverpool this summer – and Manchester United are reportedly interested.

The former Arsenal attacker joined the Reds in a £40 million transfer almost five years ago and although he initially showed a lot of promise under Jurgen Klopp, he is now barely a squad player.

Toward the end of this past season, Oxlade-Chamberlain even struggled to make Klopp’s squad on a regular basis.

His most recent Premier League start for Liverpool came back in February.

According to talkSPORT, Manchester United have joined the likes of West Ham United in considering a summer swoop for the 28-year-old, who turns 29 in August.

And he is one of three players who former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique believes should be leaving Anfield, along with Rhys Williams and Takumi Minamino.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leaving Liverpool?

It goes without saying that the likely departure of Sadio Mane will devastate Liverpool supporters more than any other probable exit this summer.

However, some fans might be disappointed to see Oxlade-Chamberlain leave, too.

For a career on Merseyside that once promised so much, there’s an element of sadness to see him struggle to even make the bench under the German boss these days.

Klopp will feel a tinge of sadness too, considering this is a player who he said is ‘like dynamite‘ once upon a time during his Liverpool career.

Now, the England international is barely a fun snap and that’s why the links to Old Trafford are rather bemusing.

In all probability he won’t be joining Erik ten Hag’s outfit this summer, but he could – and should – be moved on by Liverpool nonetheless.
