Tottenham lost Noni Madueke back in 2018 before the winger blossomed abroad with PSV Eindhoven.

The Barnet-born forward, who actually captained Tottenham’s Under-16 side, became one of the most exciting attackers around during his time in the Netherlands.

Eventually, Madueke returned to London in a £29m move to Chelsea back in January, and has shown Spurs what they lost with some impressive displays.

Now, history could repeat itself with Romaine Mundle.

What’s the story?

Well – according to Fabrizio Romano – Anderlecht and Standard Liege are fighting to sign Mundle, who sees his contract at Tottenham expire within a matter of weeks.

The Londoner has been offered a new deal by Spurs, but is yet to sign the contract – presumably due to the lack of a clear pathway into the first-team.

Like Madueke, the 20-year-old is an exciting winger who has impressed in the youth ranks at Tottenham.

However, a lack of opportunities for Mundle – who is yet to make his senior debut – could now see Spurs lose another talented winger like they did with Madueke in 2018.

Tottenham have to hire someone who gives chances to talents like Madueke & Mundle

In recent times, Spurs have strayed away from giving genuine first-team opportunities to young gems.

The likes of Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte have all seemingly adopted a short-term mindset in which winning immediately was the main objective.

That backfired, and it also seems to have disillusioned some talents such as Mundle.

It was even said that Conte would often pull youth players out of their training sessions or matches, just so they could act as a statuesque dummy in first-team drills, while Fabio Paratici also had little interest in the academy.

Now, Daniel Levy must change this, and he can start by hiring a manager who is brave enough to hand opportunities to young talent – if he fails to do so, more like Madueke will surely depart.
