Eddie Hearn has made it clear he does not believe Anthony Joshua would ever leave him in the way Conor Benn did following his unexpected move to Zuffa Boxing.

The Matchroom promoter has spoken openly about his disappointment after Benn finalized a deal elsewhere without first holding a direct conversation.

In addressing the situation publicly, Hearn emphasized that he views Joshua’s loyalty in a completely different light.

Hearn separates Joshua from Benn fallout

Eddie Hearn responded to Conor Benn’s departure by stressing what he considers a clear difference in character and commitment between the two fighters.

As he reflected on the split, Hearn drew a firm distinction between Benn and his longtime heavyweight star and presented Anthony Joshua as the benchmark for loyalty within his stable.

“You can’t mention those two in the same name. Joshua is a different breed of class and loyalty. Joshua is one of a kind. He’s cut from a different cloth.”

The statement followed Hearn’s revelation that he learned of Benn’s signing through an email from the boxer’s lawyer and was refused a phone call when he requested one.

Joshua remains central to Matchroom’s plans

Anthony Joshua has played a pivotal role in Matchroom’s global expansion, headlining major events and serving as one of the promotion’s most valuable assets.

Hearn has consistently pointed to their partnership as one built on mutual respect and long-term vision.

Although Benn’s exit represents a notable change within the company’s roster, Hearn’s comments underline his confidence that Joshua would not take a similar path.

In the aftermath of a difficult split, the promoter positioned his heavyweight champion as operating on a different level of loyalty.

As Benn begins a new chapter with Zuffa Boxing, Hearn’s remarks signal that he expects Anthony Joshua to remain firmly in the Matchroom fold.
