Former Rangers boss is struggling early on as Scotland manager.

Alex McLeish’s struggles as Scotland manager should come as relief to Rangers fans.
A year ago McLeish was made 1/2 favourite with SkyBet to replace Pedro Caixinha as Gers boss, HITC Sport reported at the time.
McLeish was seen as a credible option to take charge at Rangers, where he won the title during his first stint as boss.
After Rangers’ foreign boss experiment failed with Caixinha, a return for McLeish was mooted.
Rangers decided not to take up the option to re-appoint McLeish, and he landed the Scotland job instead as a replacement for Gordon Strachan.
McLeish’s early results as Scotland manager along with performances show that Rangers were right not to take up the option to appoint him.

Rangers lost to Israel last week and Portugal last night, and looked well of the pace in both games, with uninspiring displays and questionable team selections.
McLeish is already coming under pressure from a demanding Scottish public, with the results echoing his unsuccessful post-Rangers career.
Rangers went for a low cost option to hire Graeme Murty last summer which began well before fading, and they then made a brave move to appoint Steven Gerrard, which appears an inspired decision.
Moving for McLeish would have been the total opposite.
