There is a hint that Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers’ search for their next manager may be reaching a conclusion.

A general view of Ibrox Stadium is seen ahead of the EURO 2016 Qualifier match between Scotland and Georgia at Ibrox Stadium on October 11, 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland.

One month to the day since Pedro Caixinha’s departure at Rangers was confirmed, there is perhaps the slightest hint from bookmaker Sky Bet that their search for their next manager may potentially be edging towards a conclusion.

The Gers’ need for a new manager appears to have stepped up a few levels in recent weeks, with Graeme Murty overseeing back to back defeats in their last two Scottish Premiership games, with Hamilton winning at Ibrox and Dundee springing a surprise on Friday.

And Sky Bet’s odds just give the slightest hint that those Rangers fans now desperately craving an appointment may get what they want, with the bookmaker now listing former boss Alex McLeish as the 1/2 favourite for the position.

McLeish is out of work and of course, oversaw plenty of success during his time in charge of the Gers between 2001 and 2006, so it is not a surprise that many appear to feel that he could be a smart appointment.

Derek McInnes Manager of Aberdeen during the Brechin City v Aberdeen - Pre Season Friendly, at Glebe Park on July 23, 2017 in Brechin, Scotland.

The man who spent so long at the top of the betting market, Aberdeen’s Derek McInnes lost top spot to McLeish earlier this week, but was certainly not too far behind the 58-year-old in the market.

However, the Dons boss is now 5/2 with Sky Bet. And while that leaves him well clear of Murty and Frank De Boer, who are both listed at 10/1, it appears that – simply judging by the way the market has moved over the last few weeks – it is becoming less and less likely that McInnes will be taking over, so will it now be McLeish who gets the job?
