Adi Hütter could bring two Crystal Palace targets to SE25, signed them in the past

Crystal Palace fans have been busy Googling Adi Hütter in the past 24 hours after hearing that he is set to replace Roy Hodgson.

It was Austrian news outlet Kurier who revealed that the 53-year-old is heading to Selhurst Park.

Should that be true, then there are two Crystal Palace targets who could join the south Londoners if the Austrian is hired.

What’s the story?

Well – according to The Athletic – Crystal Palace want to sign Djibril Sow from Eintracht Frankfurt.

It was actually Hütter who signed the Switzerland international for the German side – who are also nicknamed the Eagles – sealing a €9m (£8m) agreement with Young Boys in 2019.

Sow went on to make 107 appearances under Hütter at Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring two goals while also providing 12 assists.

There is another Crystal Palace target who Hütter knows well.

BILD’s 2019 Coach of the Year also signed Filip Kostic for Eintracht Frankfurt from Hamburg in 2018.

Interestingly – as detailed by The Sun – Crystal Palace also wanted to sign the Serbian in 2020.

Kostic boasts a remarkable record under Hütter, scoring 26 goals while also providing 48 assists in 127 appearances.

Of course, the 30-year-old may be less likely to follow his old boss to south London, as he recently joined Juventus in a £14m deal back in August 2022, whereas the interest in Sow was only revealed back in September.

Adi Hütter should excite Crystal Palace fans

There is always scepticism when a manager with no Premier League experience is linked, and we understand that.

However, Hütter created one of Europe’s most exciting sides during his time at Eintracht Frankfurt, one which is still alive and kicking today as they are reigning champions of the UEFA Europa League.

Crystal Palace fans will be anxious about hiring another Frank de Boer, which makes sense.

Ultimately, Hütter has a much stronger record than the Dutchman in a tougher division, so there is reason for Crystal Palace supporters to be optimistic if the Austrian is coming to replace Hodgson.
