HITC understands that AC Milan believe they are leading the race for Viktor Gyokeres, but there is increasing interest to bring him back to England this summer.

The Swedish striker has emerged as one of Europe’s most in-demands forwards after a stellar maiden campaign in Portugal with Sporting Lisbon.

Gyokeres chose to move to Sporting with the belief he could make a big impression and he has done just that with over 30 goals already to his name this season.

Milan watching

Milan have been tracking Gyokeres since before Christmas and they believe he would be ideally suited to come into the San Siro.

Milan look to have a busy summer ahead with prized Portuguese asset Rafa Leao emerging as a target for a number of clubs including Paris Saint-Germain – who see him as one of those who could help replace Kylian Mbappe. The fact Luis Campos – who was at Lille during his time in France – is in charge of PSG’s recruitment could be a telling factor.

And if Milan do have the Leao money to spend – it is believed that Gyokeres is their main target.

As with many Portuguese-based stars – HITC understands that the number of clubs looking at Gyokeres has been growing and growing, and sources have told us that nearly half the Premier League have specifically looked at the Swedish international.

English interest

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham are all believed to have watched the player since the turn of the year – as they all look set to be in the market for a forward this summer.

However, despite the interest from England – having spent time in the UK, HITC is told that Gyokeres is not prioritising a move back, which Milan are aware of.

Gyokeres arrived at Sporting from Coventry and has a release clause of €100million although it remains to be seen what sort of deal could be brokered.
