Conor Gallagher is among those linked with a transfer to Newcastle United this summer.
The Chelsea midfielder’s future at Stamford Bridge has been uncertain ever since returning from a brilliant loan at Crystal Palace last season.
And actually, it’s even more uncertain now.
That’s because the 22-year-old picked up a red card inside the opening 27 minutes of the Blues’ win over Leicester City on Saturday.
What’s worse is that it was for two yellow cards, illustrating the Newcastle target’s lack of discipline.
Even Thomas Tuchel didn’t defend Gallagher, claiming it was a ‘very, very bad decision‘ to commit the foul which led to his second booking.

But that’s light criticism compared to what David Connolly has said on talkSPORT.
The former West Ham United striker said: “Yeah, it’s absolutely stupid, I’ve gotta say. Because Harvey Barnes is still in his own half, he’s got the whole length of the pitch to run, so why’s he made that [challenge]?
“His first booking was dreadful as well, really clumsy challenge against Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. And you’ve gotta say as the last man, he cannot do that.”
Last week, Fabrizio Romano revealed that this is a player who Newcastle are desperate to sign and with Gallagher not being a striker, the addition of Alexander Isak shouldn’t affect their pursuit in any way.
However, the Magpies have committed to paying £63 million for Isak and it remains to be seen how much is left in the budget for someone like Gallagher.
