Well, Tottenham Hotspur are safely into the last 16 of the Champions League.

Spurs wound up topping Group D by securing a vital 2-1 victory away to Marseille on Tuesday evening.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg scored a last-minute winner to ensure Tottenham would survive beyond 2022 in Europe in what was a nervy night.

At various stage, the Lilywhites, Marseille, Sporting Lisbon and Eintracht Frankfurt were all progressing into the next phase of the Champions League.

Tottenham-mad pundit Jamie O’Hara was a nervous wreck at the halfway stage of the encounter and appeared to criticise wing-backs Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon for not doing enough during the opening 45 minutes, claiming they were ‘miles off it’.

Say what you like about Sessegnon, who was substituted at the break.

But Perisic grew increasingly influential for Tottenham on a night when they needed him to be.

Not only did he provide the brilliant assist which helped the North Londoners equalise through Clement Lenglet, but he got through a whole load of defensive work in the final 20 minutes.

He also managed a massive block toward the end of the game which, without that intervention, would’ve resulted in the Lilywhites being dumped out of the Champions League.

For a free transfer, the veteran Croatia international is looking like one hell of a bargain.
