David Dein has said on talkSPORT (11:44am, September 16, 2022) that he would not have allowed Arsenal to be involved in the Super League.

Arsenal were one of 12 big clubs who pitched the Super League in 2021.

Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona and Manchester City were among the ‘founding members’ of the Super League project in April 2021.

Protests from fans and the wider footballing community saw the project fail within days.

Arsenal director Josh Kroenke apologised for Kroenke Sports & Entertainment trying to start the Super League.

And former co-owner and vice-chairman of Arsenal has said that he would never have allowed the Gunners to get involved in the Super League.

David Dein on Arsenal’s involvement in Super League

When asked on talkSPORT (11:44am, September 16, 2022) if he would have rejected the Super League idea if he were at Arsenal, Dein said: ‘Absolutely”.

Moving on

It seems that the Super League project is dead.

At least for now.

Arsenal fans were not pleased with KSI trying to start a new league, and we do not think that the American owners of the Gunners are going to make the same mistake again.

The Super League was widely condemned, and it is unlikely that Real Madrid, Juventus or AC Milan will try to launch another such project anytime soon.
