Brendan Rodgers, the Celtic manager, is said to be desperate to sign the Aberdeen defender.

Celtic have had a response from Aberdeen in their pursuit of Scott McKenna, according to the Scottish Sun. And the newspaper reports that it is not good news for the Bhoys.
The value of Celtic’s offer is unclear at this stage, although Aberdeen are said to rate McKenna around the £10 million mark.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Daily Record contradicted claims Celtic had lodged a bid for the 21-year-old, adding that any offer would be deemed unwelcome by the Pittodrie side.
McKenna is the latest centre-back said to feature on Brendan Rodgers’ radar – with the Scottish Sun reporting the Ulsterman is desperate to land him – amid the uncertain future of Dedryck Boyata.

Boyata is reportedly withdrew from Celtic’s Champions League qualifying defeat against AEK Athens last week amid speculation linking the Belgian with a string of European clubs ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.
But it appears the Bhoys will have to look elsewhere than McKenna, whose club turned down summer approaches from Hull and Swansea and value the 21-year-old at £10 million, according to the Daily Record.

Jeffrey Bruma – the Wolfsburg defender familiar to both Rodgers and Lee Congerton, the Celtic sporting director – is one alternative, reports Bild.
