Celtic were reported to have bid for the £10m-rated 21-year-old.

Celtic will be told they have no chance of signing Scott McKenna… if they bid for the Aberdeen defender – that’s according to the Daily Record.

The Scottish newspaper claims Aberdeen are adamant they have received no offer from Celtic, contracting an earlier report in the Scottish Sun.

McKenna is the latest centre-back said to feature on Brendan Rodgers’ radar, with the future of Dedryck Boyata uncertain.

Boyata is reportedly withdrew from Celtic’s Champions League qualifying defeat against AEK Athens last week amid speculation linking the Belgian with a string of European clubs ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.

But it appears the Bhoys will have to look elsewhere than McKenna, whose club turned down summer approaches from Hull and Swansea and value the 21-year-old at £10 million, according to the Daily Record.

Jeffrey Bruma – the Wolfsburg defender familiar to both Rodgers and Lee Congerton, the Celtic sporting director – is one alternative, reports Bild.
