Aberdeen are reportedly interested in signing 23-year-old Celtic defender Liam Scales just one year after the Republic of Ireland talent joined the Scottish giants from Shamrock Rovers.
According to the Scottish Sun, Dons manager Jim Goodwin has identified the Celtic talent as a potential option as a natural left-sided central defender, with the Aberdeen boss keen on improving the backline this summer ahead of what is a huge transfer window for the Scottish side.

Although Scales joined Celtic just 12 months ago, the defender has struggled to break into Ange Postecoglou’s first-team plans, with the Irishman making just a handful of appearances for Celtic last season, and now, Aberdeen are interested in signing the former Shamrock Rovers star.
Moreover, as per the Scottish Sun, Scales is desperate to play regular football in the 22/23 campaign after making the leap from Ireland to Scotland, with the defender open to a move to Aberdeen following their interest in the centre-back if it means getting to play week-in week-out in the Scottish Premiership.
Indeed, there’s no denying that Scales is an exciting talent who could become a regular for Celtic under the right development plan. However, with the Hoops set for a huge season both domestically and in Europe in the UEFA Champions League, a move to Aberdeen could be beneficial for the defender.
After all, Celtic will be keen to add to their defensive ranks this summer, and with Scales being a centre-back with limited first-team minutes last season, the 23-year-old is much better off departing Parkhead for regular minutes, even if the centre-back joined just one year ago.
Aberdeen’s interest in Scales must entice Celtic man to make summer move

Scales made a huge risk last summer swapping the comforts of Ireland for a shot at making at Celtic, and whilst the defender could still become a regular for the Hoops, the prospect of playing regular football for Aberdeen is simply too good to pass up on.
The Dons are one of the biggest sides in Scotland, and whilst Scales played limited football with the Hoops last season, the defender has shown enough that he can play in the SPL on a regular basis, and Aberdeen could be the perfect club for the talented centre-back to improve his game and to take his talents to the next level.
