Tottenham Hotspur supporters were lavishing praise on Aaron Lennon last night.
The former Spurs winger scored in Burnley’s 3-1 defeat away to Manchester United.
In doing so, Lennon, who spent 10 years at Spurs, now has one Premier League goal this season.
And that’s one more than Adama Traore at Wolverhampton Wanderers, amid talk of a move to North London.
Traore, valued at £30 million, has been linked to Tottenham quite a lot in 2021.
But The Telegraph claimed earlier in December that he remains on the Lilywhites’ radar.
Thing is, he’s yet to score in 17 Premier League games for Wanderers yet this season.
So the fact that a 34-year-old Aaron Lennon has more goals than him ought to illustrate that despite Traore’s talents, he isn’t worth the money.
For all his speed and power – and he has a shed load of both – there’s very little end product.
Even under former Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo, who signed him for Wolves, the Spain international was still very hit and miss.
Simply put, it honestly doesn’t reflect well on the powerhouse winger if somebody nine years his senior is scoring more than him.
And particularly at a ground like Old Trafford.
