Bhoys boss Rodgers could look to bring a new goalkeeper to Celtic Park, and Norwich City’s number one may come under consideration.
Celtic’s Craig Gordon
Craig Gordon’s Celtic future is no more certain, with the Daily Mail reporting on Wednesday that talks over a new contract have been delayed until the summer.
And with the names of Scott Bain (Daily Record) and Benoit Costil (L’Equipe) mentioned as possible Bhoys targets over the past seven days, it would be little surprise to see the Scotland number one depart at the end of the campaign.
According to the Daily Mail, Gordon’s proposed move to Chelsea could still be on the cards after several failed approaches in January. But could another, yet-to-be-linked goalkeeper feature on Brendan Rodgers’ list of replacements?
The Celtic boss was previously linked with a move for Norwich City’s John Ruddy while at Liverpool in late 2014 – and would have had to pay around £8 million to land him (Daily Mail).
Norwich City’s John Ruddy
Two years on, the once-capped England international will soon be available for nothing, and with Norwich’s chances of an immediate return to top-level football decreasing by the week, the prospect of a move to club likely to be involved in next season’s Champions League is sure to appeal to Ruddy.
And replacing Gordon, who the Daily Mail reports would still cost Chelsea a “substantial fee” courtesy of the Bhoys’ one-year extension option, with a goalkeeper four years younger for nothing seems like a no-brainer for Celtic.
Should Celtic sign Norwich City’s John Ruddy if Craig Gordon leaves?
