Manor Solomon has reacted to reports suggesting his £7 million move to Premier League newcomers Fulham has fallen through, telling Sport that he is unlikely to be a Shakhtar Donetsk player next season.

One of the strangest transfer sagas of the year so far, we are still none the wiser about whether or not Solomon will be plying his trade alongside Aleksandr Mitrovic and co in 2021/22.

Reports in April claimed that Fulham had agreed a £7 million fee for the Israel international, while offering to pay Solomon £25,000-a-week at Craven Cottage.

What’s more, the one-time Manchester City target admitted that ‘the chances of me playing in England (next season) are very high’.

It seemed only a matter of time before Solomon was boarding a flight to London. That was, however, until Fabrizio Romano dropped a rather unexpected and unwelcome bombshell, stating that the deal had collapsed.

Sources in Israel dispute Romano’s claims, however.

And while Solomon has all-but confirmed his departure from war-hit Ukraine, his next destination remains a mystery.

Is Manor Solomon signing for Fulham?

“I’m making the separation. It’s true that I do not know what my future will be and where I will play next season. I will probably not play for Shakhtar anymore,” says the 22-year-old. “I know it’s only a matter of time.

“Everyone on the team, especially the young ones, wants to play in Europe as soon as possible. But the offer you want does not always come, the club does not always release you. It is harder for us to leave because of the army.

“Everyone knows that the more players we have in Europe and good leagues, then the better this (Israel) team will be.”

Ahead of next month’s internationals, Solomon was asked directly about whether or not he is leaving Donetsk for West London. His response, however, didn’t exactly help to un-furrow Fulham brows.

“Most of the publications are incorrect, whether (the interest) was true or not,” he says.

Now, this doesn’t really shed a light on Solomon’s potential future under Marco Silva. Was Fabrizio Romano ‘incorrect’? Or were reports suggesting he had agreed a cut-price move to Fulham wide of the mark in the first place?

The phrase ‘clear as mud’ comes to mind.
