Jose Enrique has backed Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to secure a possible deal for Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic with Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota on the injury table.
The former left-back added on Instagram that the USA international is an ‘incredible player’ and he would be ideal given that Diaz and Jota are out of action.
The former is a bigger problem because he now faces a longer spell on the sidelines, after an injury setback, as Jurgen Klopp described that as a ‘smash in the face’.
Even with a new manager in the Chelsea dugout – Graham Potter – it does seem as though Pulisic is free to leave Stamford Bridge in January and the Reds are one of a number of clubs keen on signing him.
The question they have to ask. Would those in West London do business with the Merseyside club given that they would be providing them with a helping hand, even if Pulisic is free to leave?
At the end of the day, Klopp needs to do something in January about the long-term void Diaz’s injury will leave behind, even if the midfield is the bigger issue.
Either way, Enrique has backed the call to sign the 24-year-old, but he stated that there is only one ‘problem’ with his possible signing.
“You will like him at LFC?” asked Enrique. “I believe he is an incredible player with lots of talent.
“The problem? He is always injured but if we are able to get a loan option until the summer for him I believe it will be a good deal with Diaz and Jota out for a long time.”
CHELSEA CAN’T SELL TO LIVERPOOL
Many have felt that the talent is there but Pulisic just hasn’t been provided with enough regular starts in order to showcase his worth.
At Liverpool, because of the injuries, he would be able to do that, but surely it’s a deal Chelsa can’t allow.
They might find that they are battling those on Merseyside for Champions League places, and amid their injuries out wide, the last thing you want to do is provide them with a helping hand, even if it’s for a player they might get big bucks for.
