Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United could reportedly be able to sign Chelsea central midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko on a free transfer.
Newcastle linked with Chelsea’s Tiemoue Bakayoko
CalcioMercato reported this week that Newcastle want to sign Bakayoko from Premier League rivals Chelsea before the summer transfer window closes on Thursday.
We covered the report here on HITC Sport.
The 28-year-old Frenchman is on loan at defending Serie A champions AC Milan at the moment.
Bakayoko spent the 2018-19 season on loan at Milan from Chelsea and moved to the Rossoneri on a two-year loan deal in the summer of 2021.
Potential free agent
The Times have now reported that Bakayoko could become a free agent.
The report has claimed that the midfielder ‘has reached the broad agreement to terminate his contract at Chelsea and end his loan at AC Milan’.
Milan are reportedly willing to terminate the loan deal with the Blues.

Easier for Newcastle
It would be easier for Newcastle United to get a deal done for Tiemoue Bakayoko if he became a free agent.
Newcastle would not have to negotiate a transfer fee with Chelsea, and given that PIF are wealthy owners, they would be able to make a good offer to the midfielder and should be able to at least match his current £93,000-a-week salary (SalarySport).
Bakayoko has scored two goals and created one big chance in 29 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
