Speaking on the Baggies Broadcast Podcast, Joseph Masi has made an interesting claim on Conor Gallagher’s future at West Brom.
Masi said that Sam Allardyce was rather coy when he was asked about a recall clause in the deal for Gallagher over the weekend, and the midfielder has reportedly been catching the eye of other Premier League clubs, including Leeds United.
Understandably, this led to a bit of concern about the youngster being recalled by Chelsea, but Masi has claimed that Baggies fans needn’t worry about that.
“I am 99% sure that Gallagher does have a recall, but I’m 90% sure he’ll stay anyway,”
“I really don’t see why. If they were going to recall him, they probably would have done it by now, they probably wouldn’t have let him play against Arsenal, and also play in the FA Cup.
“The reason we can say with a lot of certainty that Gallagher has a recall is because basically every loan now does, there are very few that don’t, and also he had one last season.
“Remember, he went on loan to Charlton, Chelsea recalled him from that loan and then sent him to Swansea, so you’d wonder why Chelsea would think it was better to do it differently this time around.”

Masi makes an interesting point here.
The journalist is very well-connected at West Brom, so we have to take his word on this one, but the point about the FA Cup is a very poignant one.
Gallagher is now cup-tied for the domestic competition, so if Chelsea were to bring him back, or even loan him out to another club, he would be ineligible to play in the FA Cup, which does suggest that he’s not going anywhere.
This update is certainly reassuring for West Brom fans as Gallagher has been one of their better players this season.
