CIES have released their latest monthly report, and this time, they’ve been looking at some of the most promising players on the planet.
As ever, the footballing observatory have been using data science and analytics to rank players in their individual roles, and there have been some interesting findings to say the least.
As you may have guessed, the likes of Jude Bellingham, Pedri and Josko Gvardiol are ranked amongst the most promsing players in the world on these lists, but there’s one interesting name from Liverpool amongst these superstars.
Indeed, Tyler Morton was ranked eighth amongst the brightest young attacking playmakers on the planet.
It is interesting to see that Morton has been classified as an attacking playmaker on this list. After all, he was playing as a centre-half at one point this season and has been lauded for his defensive actions in certain circles.

However, you can’t argue with the stats, and due to his creativity and influence in the final third, he’s made the list of most promising attacking playmakers.
To be honest, this isn’t a list filled with superstars, Ajax’s Kenneth Taylor tops the pile, while Roberto Sandry is a player who will be familiar with many Football Manager fans, but other than that, there are a few obscure names here.
However, that isn’t to say that there isn’t some weight attached to these rankings.
CIES are amongst the best around when it comes to analytics and identifying talents, and if they have concluded that Morton is one of the best young playmakers around, he must have something special about him.
Of course, whether or not he can continue his good form at Blackburn when he returns to Anfield remains to be seen, but if he can, Liverpool may just have another gem on their hands here.
