Parma winger Yann Karamoh is closing in on a move to Sheffield United after talks with Crystal Palace stalled, as reported by The Telegraph (live blog, 12.06pm).
Following a miserable start to the Championship season, you’d imagine Slavisa Jokanovic’s frown could be turned upside down by an impressive end to the transfer window.
Sheffield United have already snapped up Conor Hourihane from Aston Villa, an Ireland international who has taken the second tier by storm in the past.
Hourihane enjoyed an outstanding loan spell at Swansea City in the second half of last season, helping drag Steve Cooper’s side to the play-off final.
The Blades are also expected to land Morgan Gibbs-White on a short-term deal, the Wolves wizard adding a splash of magic to an industrious midfield.
Karamoh, meanwhile, could be the most exciting signing of the lot, a jet-heeled forward once likened to Kylian Mbappe thanks to his searing pace.
Ivory Coast international Karamoh was a target for Arsenal before joining Inter Milan in 2017 and scored four Serie A goals last season, albeit for a Parma side that ended the campaign in the relegation zone.

Sheffield United move for Yann Karamoh after Crystal Palace talks hit the buffers
A fortnight ago, Sport Parma reported Crystal Palace had held talks with the 23-year-old’s agent. For whatever reason, that deal appears to have hit the buffers with Karamoh now entering negotiations with Sheffield United instead.
The Blades’ interest comes after they missed out on a move for Manchester United’s £37 million wonder kid Amad Diallo.
Interestingly, Palace are now pushing ahead for another exciting wide man who plies his trade in Italy.
An offer for the £26 million-rated Jeremie Boga was lodged on Monday.
