Since the signing of Gabriel Jesus, things have gone a bit quiet for Arsenal in the market, although interest in Lucas Paqueta seems to be intensifying.
It has been said that Arsenal are the Brazil international’s most likely destination, following a superb season in which he scored 11 goals, while also providing seven assists.
Paqueta was even named Best Foreign Player in France for his efforts, while he also earned a nomination for the Player of the Season award – something Lionel Messi and Neymar did not receive.
Now, there has been another interesting development.
What’s the story?
Well, Paqueta has now followed Edu – Director of Football at Arsenal – on Instagram.
Now, that may not seem like much, although in this day and age, a lot of contact takes place between footballers on social media, with some – including Edu – very active on Instagram.
Therefore, it certainly isn’t unrealistic to think the pair have chatted on Instagram.
After all, Brazilian outlet UOL believe they have spoken on the phone already, so there certainly seems to be something going on between Paqueta and Arsenal.

If talks with the attacking midfielder go well, the Gunners will then have to meet Lyon’s demands, with the French side supposedly demanding £68m for their No.10 this summer.
Arsenal face Lucas Paqueta competition
If the Gunners are to sign the 24-year-old, they may need to fend off Newcastle.
The Magpies signed Paqueta’s close friend Bruno Guimaraes in January, and since then, talk of the Brazilian joining his pal on Tyneside has been frequent.

In fact, it has been said that Paqueta is interested in a move to Newcastle, with Eddie Howe willing to smash the club’s record transfer fee to secure his services.
Of course, Arsenal can offer European football, although Newcastle and their newfound riches could potentially blow the north Londoners out of the water financially.
Keep an eye on this situation, as the Paqueta saga is definitely hotting up.
