West Ham are likely to be on the lookout for a left-back this summer after the Hammers waved goodbye to Arthur Masuaku – and a £5million price tag placed on the head of Rangers ace Borna Barisic should tempt David Moyes.

Masuaku, 28, has completed a move to Besiktas on a loan-to-buy basis. The left-back struggled for game time last season and that has convinced the Hammers to let the ex-Olympiakos defender go to the Turkish league.

It leaves West Ham with only Aaron Cresswell as an option on the left side of the defence. A move for Europa League winner and Serbia international Filip Kostic is high up on West Ham’s list of priorities, but Juventus are winning.

Indeed, £16m-rated Kostic wants to join Juventus. He has told West Ham to wait before the Old Lady make a decision. So, instead of waiting for Kostic, West Ham need to pursue other options – and Rangers might boast the answer.

Barisic should tempt West Ham: £5m Rangers price tag a bargain

Barisic has been largely excellent during his time at Ibrox. In his four years at Rangers, he has clocked up 35 assists in 157 appearances. An assist more often than one every five games. He has a contract at Ibrox until 2024.

But Rangers have just signed Ridvan Yilmaz from Besiktas. They have placed a £5million price tag on Barisic’s head – according to Football Scotland. Moyes is obviously well aware of the talent north of the border.

West Ham require their full-backs to get forward and put some attackable crosses into the box. Barisic has proven at Rangers, not least because of his rate of assists, that his delivery into the penalty area is excellent.

So, at £5million – with Masuaku leaving and Kostic likely to choose Juventus – surely the Hammers can solve their left-back dilemma with a bargain move for the Croatia international this summer.
