Arsenal are said to be interested in reuniting Mikel Arteta with Leroy Sane at the Emirates Stadium.

It was Calciomercato who claimed that the Gunners were keen on a deal for the Germany international during the January transfer window, although Arsenal decided to shelve their interest.

Now – however – a deal could be done this summer as Bayern Munich grow frustrated.

What’s the story?

Well, Sane has been superb for the German giants since his £54.8m move from Manchester City in July 2020.

The Bayern Munich No.10 has scored 36 goals and provided 33 assists in 117 appearances at the Allianz Arena.

However – according to Bild – the Bundesliga champions are now open to the idea of selling Sane as his performance level drops.

The 27-year-old has scored just one goal in his last ten Bundesliga appearances.

Bild believe Bayern Munich will be happy to cash in if a reasonable offer arrives this summer should this poor form continue, as they cannot justify Sane’s £281,000-a-week wages if he fails to perform.

It comes after English journalist Pete O’Rourke told Give Me Sport that the German would seriously consider a move to Arsenal if the opportunity arose.

Sane could get back to his best at Arsenal

Sane was one of the most feared forwards on the planet while working under Pep Guardiola and Arteta at Manchester City.

Arteta has since carried his knack of getting the best out of wide forwards to Arsenal, with both Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli hitting double figures for goals in the Premier League already this season.

Therefore, if Sane does end up at Arsenal this summer – The Times believe the Gunners want a new winger – then it could prove to be a beneficial move for all parties.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation going into the summer transfer window, as anything could happen.
