Arsenal are set for another huge summer of spending, and one place the Gunners look to be scouting for new signings already is South America if reports are to be believed.
As per Football London, the north London side have turned to the footballing continent as a source for new players and as a way to sign some potential bargains given the new Brexit rules which have made signing European-based prospects challenging.
With South America a hotbed for footballing talent, here are five players Arsenal could sign this summer for both the immediate first-team as well as for the future
Danilo
A player who has been heavily linked to Arsenal in recent months, Danilo has been the beating heartbeat for Palmeiras in their back-to-back Copa Libertadores wins in the past two seasons, and north London could be calling for the midfielder.
Valued at around £18m, Danilo could be a bargain signing for Arsenal and a long-term replacement for Granit Xhaka, with Mikel Arteta reportedly looking to sign such a player in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Alexis Duarte
One of the more obscure names on this list, Paraguayan centre-back Alexis Duarte is reportedly a target for Arsenal as reported by Cronica, and the 22-year-old could be a shrewd signing for the Gunners.
With a return to European football on the cards for Arsenal, depth at centre-back will be crucial, and with fellow South American Gabriel Magalhaes thriving in north London, Duarte could join the party this summer should the Gunners make their move.
Endrick
Possibly the most famous name on this list and the one that has most football fans around the world excited, 15-year-old Endrick is already being touted as one of the next big things from Brazil, and Arsenal could be looking to sign the attacker.
Blessed with pace and an intelligence on the ball that is rare for a player of his age, Endrick already has half the footballing world reporting chasing him, yet given Arsenal’s connections in South America, the north London side have a real shot at winning the race for the teenager.
Julio Enciso
Arsenal hit the jackpot with Gabriel Martinelli in 2019, with Edu’s first-ever signing proving to be one that could benefit the Gunners for years to come, and Julio Enciso could be a similar move for the north London side.
Also based in Paraguay with a future set for Europe, Enciso has been a revelation for Libertad this season, scoring ten goals in the first ten games of the season and already looking ready for a move this summer, where Arsenal could poach the 18-year-old striker.
Enzo Fernandez
A Manchester City and Manchester United target if reports are to be believed, Enzo Fernandez is quickly establishing himself as one of the best central midfielders in South America, and for Arsenal, the River Plate star could be a perfect signing.
