Tottenham are said to be keen on a move for Thomas Tuchel as doubts arise over the future of Antonio Conte.
It was Give Me Sport who claimed that the German is on Daniel Levy’s shortlist as he and Fabio Paratici explore potential candidates to replace the Italian.
However, Spurs may now have to give up hope of appointing Tuchel.
What’s the story?
Well – according to The Times – Tuchel is learning Spanish as he eyes the Real Madrid job.
Carlo Ancelotti currently holds the reins at the Santiago Bernabeu, but the Italian has already announced that he will retire when his contract expires in July 2024.
Il Messagero quote the 63-year-old as saying: “This stage at Real will end my career. After Los Blancos, I’ll stop. Real is the top of football. It makes sense to put an end to it after this experience.”

Therefore, Tuchel’s dream job should soon become available, and given the 49-year-old’s pedigree in management, the Spanish giants surely wouldn’t mind having him in the dugout.
As a result, Tottenham need to move on.
Who Tottenham could hire instead of Tuchel
Fortunately, it doesn’t sound as if Tottenham put all of their eggs into the Tuchel basket, despite Give Me Sport claiming that he is a “serious” candidate to replace Conte.
The Athletic believe Luis Enrique is also a strong contender for the Spurs job, while Napoli’s Luciano Spalletti and Eintracht Frankfurt tactician Oliver Glasner are also admired.
Sky Sports believe Thomas Frank, Marco Silva, Roberto De Zerbi and Mauricio Pochettino are also on the shortlist.
Sky Sports even mention that some Tottenham players – as well as staff members – have been messaging Pochettino to see if he would come back to Spurs, which is a very interesting bit of information, if true.
Therefore, Levy and Paratici have plenty of alternatives to Tuchel.
