Well, Liverpool might be behind Chelsea in the race to sign Moises Caicedo.
In late August, speculation mounted that Liverpool were preparing a £42 million offer to sign the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder.
However, Chelsea are also rumoured to be interested and Graham Potter’s move to Stamford Bridge from Brighton is likely to enhance the logistics of Caicedo moving to West London instead.
HITC Sport wrote about following his old Seagulls manager to the Blues was a logical choice by the reported Liverpool target.
And Caicedo has effectively just confirmed via The Evening Standard that he’d be well up for a spell with the Londoners.
He said: “It made me very sad now that he left for Chelsea because he helped me a lot and I wanted to continue having him as a manager, but that’s football. I think they are one of the best teams in the world and nobody would turn down an offer from Chelsea or any other club like that. It’d be a dream to be in the best teams in the world and succeed there.”
It’s a blow for Liverpool if they were genuinely interested.
However, there’s more exciting speculation regarding Jurgen Klopp’s side who definitely need a revamp of the midfield next summer.
Jude Bellingham has been linked with a 2023 transfer to Anfield and Fabrizio Romano confirmed this week that he was definitely a legitimate target.
Missing out on Caicedo to Chelsea would be a blow, but nabbing a talent like Bellingham, who scored against Manchester City in the Champions League last night, would be a massive boost nonetheless.
